Analysis on China's Latest Export Trends of Fans (HS: 841459) in 2025

“China's fan exports (HS: 841459) achieved record volume in 2024, with 509 million units totaling $3.788 billion. While 2025 shows steady growth driven by green computing, energy storage, and EV thermal management, exports to the U.S. fell sharply (~33-35%) due to tariffs, shifting momentum to Asian markets like Vietnam and Thailand. Guangdong and Zhejiang dominate domestic exports (52.5% share), with an average unit price of $7.18. Companies focusing on high-value segments—such as ECM brushless, explosion-proof fans, and overseas CKD assembly—are best positioned for future growth.”

Fans under customs code HS 841459 are one of the most export-advantaged subcategories in China's ventilation and cooling industry chain. In 2024, export volume reached a new record high, while imports continued to reflect a structural trend of "high-end + niche" characteristics. Looking ahead to 2025, the rapid expansion of global green computing infrastructure, rising demand for thermal management in energy storage systems, and advancements in new energy vehicle thermal control technology are expected to continue driving double-digit growth in the export of such fans.

According to China Customs statistics, the total export volume of Chinese fans (HS: 841459) in 2024 reached 509 million units, a year-on-year increase of 11%, with a total export value of $3.788 billion, up 6.96% compared to the previous year. On the import side, the annual import volume was 97.54 million units, down 5.92% year-on-year, while the total import value was $893 million, a decrease of 6.01%. This indicates that domestic demand for high-end specialized fans still relies on imports, though the overall scale has contracted.

From January to July 2025, China's fan import and export trends remained relatively stable, with cumulative exports totaling $2.561 billion and 356 million units. On a month-on-month basis, exports showed a gradual recovery trend, though compared to the same period in 2024, there was still a slight decline. This change can be partly attributed to the impact of U.S. tariff policies on Chinese goods, with exports to the U.S. facing noticeable pressure.

In terms of export market structure, the main destinations for Chinese fans (HS: 841459) are the United States, Hong Kong (China), Vietnam, Japan, and Thailand, accounting for 13.94%, 11.53%, 6.32%, 5.76%, and 4.19% of the total export value, respectively. Although the U.S. remains one of the key export markets for Chinese fans, its market share has been gradually shrinking. From January to July 2025, both export volume and value to the U.S. decreased by approximately 33%–35% year-on-year. In contrast, Asian markets such as Vietnam, Thailand, and Japan demonstrated stronger growth resilience, with export volumes showing an upward trend month-on-month.

In terms of domestic export distribution, Guangdong and Zhejiang provinces dominate, together accounting for 52.5% of the national total export value. There are differences in export market structures across provinces: products from Guangdong are mainly exported to the U.S., Hong Kong (China), Japan, Mexico, and Vietnam; Zhejiang primarily targets the U.S., Russia, the UAE, Brazil, and Poland; while Shandong focuses on the U.S., Malaysia, India, Vietnam, and South Korea. This distribution pattern reflects the differentiated advantages of various regions in terms of industrial chain support, product positioning, and customer base.

In terms of average product price, the export price of Chinese fans from January to July 2025 was $7.18 per unit. The product types are mainly "unspecified fans and blowers," covering various models not individually listed, such as axial fans, centrifugal fans, and cross-flow fans. Due to their highly diverse application scenarios—spanning household appliances, consumer electronics, communication equipment, industrial ventilation and dust removal, automotive electronics, and nearly all fields requiring airflow delivery—the price range is relatively wide.

Currently, Chinese fan exports (HS: 841459) are benefiting from a triple downstream boost: "green computing infrastructure + energy storage thermal management + automotive thermal control." It is expected that exports will maintain steady growth in the near future. On the import side, products are mainly concentrated in high-end applications such as corrosion-resistant, explosion-proof, and medical equipment fans, reflecting a "high-value-added, narrow-demand" characteristic. Against this backdrop, companies that have proactively invested in ECM brushless motor technology, corrosion- and explosion-proof fans, integrated liquid cooling structures, and overseas CKD assembly capabilities are likely to achieve above-average profit margins.
