CHOOSE THE RIGHT TRADE DATA

Your business question.
The right evidence.

Understand when to use transaction records, trade statistics and company information, and what to check before choosing a dataset.

Start with the decision
you need to make.

Data types answer different questions. Company-level records can help identify trading parties; aggregate statistics put a market in context.

Three research needs and their appropriate evidence
Your questionData to investigateWhat to confirm
Which businesses import a relevant product?Transaction records containing importer or exporter identitiesCompany fields, detailed descriptions, trade direction and dates for the selected country/version
How does a product market compare across countries?Aggregate trade statistics with consistent product, period and measurement definitionsReporter, partner, classification, value/quantity units and complete periods; market totals do not identify individual buyers
What kind of business is a potential partner?Company identity and business-profile evidence, where availableCorrect entity match, source date and field availability; company background is not proof of a current purchasing need

The transaction examples below were inspected in TradeDaas. Statistics and business information are separate system categories; their full country and field coverage needs separate confirmation.

WHAT THE REVIEWED RECORDS SHOW

The detail changes
with the dataset.

Compare the evidence you need, not just a country name.

INDONESIA · CUSTOMIZED IMPORTS

Separate company roles

The opened record includes importer identity, website and code fields, plus separately named exporter and supplier roles.

INDIA · IMPORT DETAIL

Company context has its own date

The reviewed March 2026 trade record includes separately dated company research. Historical shareholder information should retain its reporting date.

RWANDA · IMPORT DETAIL

Values need a clear basis

The reviewed example separates FOB and CIF amounts. Its packaging wording and measured KGM quantity also describe different things.

Six checks before
you choose access.

Use these questions to define a useful sample and avoid mismatched expectations.

1. Does the record identify the company role I need?

Ask for importer, exporter, supplier and customs-broker fields separately. A business appearing in a shipment is not automatically the buyer you want to approach. Verify company identity and current contact channels before outreach.

2. Is the product description detailed enough?

An HS search can return a broad category or a named material grade. Open the detailed description and check model, grade, application or packaging wording. Our reviewed HS 320611 examples vary in specificity; a classification match alone is not product qualification.

3. Which direction and version am I reviewing?

Country entries may contain standard, customized, supplementary or historical versions. The import example does not define export fields. For Chad, the reviewed catalog lists different import and export end dates.

See the direction-specific example ↗
4. How should I read coverage and freshness?

Separate the historical range, the latest available database date, a selected query range and one sample date. A newer record proves that record is accessible; it does not establish uninterrupted coverage between two dates or a guaranteed update frequency.

See the Kenya version example ↗
5. Can I compare the quantities and values?

Keep kilograms, parcels, package counts and units distinct. Check currency, FOB/CIF or customs-assessed basis, and whether a total describes one item or the whole declaration. Align these definitions before calculating or comparing unit values.

See item and declaration values ↗
6. What does the sample leave unresolved?

A single transaction does not establish buying frequency, annual demand, current contact responsibility or future orders. Ask for a relevant period and enough comparable records to support your research question. Confirm access, export limits and support with the team rather than inferring them from a public example.

OUR PUBLIC SAMPLE APPROACH

Evidence you can
put in context.

Country pages use selected fields from opened transaction details. Sample dates and dataset versions remain visible, and company identities and personal contact values are omitted.

What these pages establish

They illustrate a reviewed record and the questions its fields can support. They do not audit every transaction, every version or every export field.
